COVID-19 Updates: Uganda’s COVID-19 Death Toll Reaches 60 as 143 New Cases are Registered

Uganda’s COVID-19 death toll thus far reached 60 after 2 new deaths – one from Soroti and another from Mbale - were registered from samples tested on September 15, according to the Ministry of Health daily COVID-19 update.

Meanwhile, an additional 143 positive cases also were registered from the 2,849 samples tested, bringing the cumulative number of cases thus far to 5, 266.

135 cases were alerts and contacts and they are broken down as follows; 66 are from Kampala, 15 from Buikwe, 14 from Lira, 8 from Kiryandongo, 7 from Mbale, 7 from Tororo, 5 from Soroti, 3 from Bundibugyo, 3 from Buvuma, 3 from Wakiso, 2 from Wakiso and one each from Arua and Zombo.

The other cases are 8 returnees from Oman (4), India, Senegal, the UK and Ethiopia. The number of recoveries stands at 2,404.
