Fighting Coronavirus Together: President Museveni Pushes Boda Boda Curfew From 2 P.M. to 5 P.M.

KIU, Main Campus - While addressing the country on Sunday 19th April 2020 about the novel Coronavirus, President Museveni announced that bodabodas transporting and delivering goods should work up to 5 P.M., as opposed to the initial 2 P.M.

“After advice and briefing from the transport team, we have decided that bodabodas and bicycles can now operate until 5 P.M. to help with deliveries to our people and get enough time to get back home before the curfew,” Museveni said.

He, however, insisted that bodabodas should not operate at night as this could facilitate criminality. He cautioned the riders not to carry passengers but cargo only.

Museveni also said that only one truck driver should be allowed instead of three people as earlier said.

Museveni said that the country is doing well since people are cooperating and the results seem not to be bad. Uganda has so far recorded 55 cases of COVID-19 and has discharged 28 people who have reportedly recovered.

He further applauded the doctors and health workers who have been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 and also requested that scientists should be paid better because of the trouble they have saved the country from.

Ever since Uganda recorded its first case of COVID-19 on 21st March 2020, different measures, including a lockdown, have been put in place to stop the spread of the disease.
