KIU Director of Research, Prof. Francisca Oladipo Ready To Speak at the Global Women in Artificial Intelligence (WAI) Summit

The Director of Research, Innovations, Consultancy, and Extensions (RICE), Prof. Francisca Oladipo will address global Artificial Intelligence (AI) experts on September 8th, 2020 at the largest gathering of Women in Artificial Intelligence (WAI), the WAI summit themed “Bringing All Minds Together”.

Prof. Oladipo who also serves as the Executive Coordinator, Virus Outbreak Data Network (VODAN Africa) will be addressing more than 3000 attendees from over 40 countries on the “Science of FAIR Data: The new science of making data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reuseable (FAIR)” at one of the sessions during the global summit. 

The Professor of Computing has been an advocate of the participation of women in AI, Women of Colour In Computing, Women in Machine Learning, and Black in Artificial Intelligence. She is a two-time recipient of the PyCon USA Grant, a recipient of the ACM FAT 2019 Fellowship and the 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship of the ICML. 

She is also an alumna of the prestigious Machine Learning Summer School and has been trained in Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics and Data Science at the Institute of Analytics and Data Science, University of Essex, UK, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Madrid, Spain, and the University of Oxford.

The WAI Summit is a transformative platform that is on a mission to increase female representation and participation in AI, and a community-driven initiative bringing empowerment, knowledge, and active collaboration via education, research, events, and blogging. It boasts of more than 4000 members across over 115 countries.
