KIU, Western Campus – Nathan Nkundimana, a fourth-year student of Pharmacy at KIU Western Campus, advises whoever aspires to get quality university education to come to KIU if they want to excel and succeed in their careers.

Nkundimana, who is also the Sports Minister in the Guild Union of the campus, says KIU’s ranking as the best private university in East Africa and second-best university in Uganda is a testament to that.

“KIU has everything for students to excel and succeed in their careers and lives. That is why you can see that we are now the second-best university and best private university in Uganda,” Nkundimana says.

“I personally joined KIU because I had passion to do pharmacy but also because some people I respect so much as astute scientists told me that KIU performs well in Pharmacy,” he adds.

He explains that his decision to choose KIU Western Campus over other universities in central Uganda has been justified because he is receiving the best education and it has helped him to focus on his studies and not be distracted by other things.

He reveals that his most memorable moment at KIU was leading the organizing committee of the Inter-Faculty football gala which was held in February 2024.

“Organizing the inter-faculty football gala was very special for me because we did not have it last year. My committee and the Dean of Students Affairs (DSA) put in a lot of effort and I cannot forget about that,” Nkundimana notes.

He says he is so passionate about the Pharmacy profession and once he completes school, he will concentrate his efforts on developing more and better drugs for all conditions including non-communicable diseases and also try to prevent anti-microbial resistance.

Nkundimana’s university journey so far has not been without challenges although he says in every challenge he has found the need to come up with solutions to navigate them.

“Balancing academics and leadership has not been easy. If you succeed in leadership, you might find yourself lagging behind in academics and vice-versa,” he points out.

He is grateful to God for being on his side and helping him to always progress in his studies, his sister, brother and the entire family for supporting and believing in him.
