KIU, Western Campus – KIU Teaching Hospital is holding a medical camp targeting over 1,000 patients with different medical conditions.

The camp, which commenced on Monday, March 4th, 2024, will come to close today, March 6th and will cater for patients majorly from the Greater Bushenyi area.

According to Emmanuel Gutaka, the Deputy Principal Nursing Officer (DPNO) of KIU Teaching Hospital, the camp is meant to extend services to the community.

“The camp will take care of patients with different conditions like cardiac, orthopaedic and abdominal conditions, bacterial diagnosis, plus all the common conditions affecting the people of this area,” Gutaka said.

“All of the patients have to undergo diagnostic tests and after that, they will receive treatment for the conditions they are diagnosed with,” he added.

Doctors at KIU Teaching Hospital from different countries like Tanzania, USA, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda are on hand to take care of the patients.

“The medical camp is necessary because the hospital wants to serve the people in line with the aim of its founders of extending services to the community,” Gutaka revealed. He noted that the hospital has regularly done free camps in the past as a routine around twice or thrice a year.
