KIU, Main Campus - Uganda’s confirmed Coronavirus cases have risen to 54 after one more case was confirmed on Easter Sunday, 12th April 2020.

The Director General Health Service at the Ministry of Health, on Sunday night, said that 169 samples were tested and only one tested positive.

The case is a 34-year-old Ugandan female resident of Nsambya, Kampala, who arrived from Turkey on 21st March. At the time of testing, she was under institutional quarantine and presented signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

“One new case confirmed of COVID-19 out of the 169 samples tested today at Uganda Virus Research Institute. The total number of confirmed cases stands at 54 in Uganda,” the Ministry of Health announced.

The total number of cases is now 54, four of whom were discharged on Saturday, 11th April 2020, having fully recovered from COVID-19.

Therefore, this is an indicator that there is still hope to beat the virus as we continue to observe the set guidelines from the Ministry of Health and the Presidential guidelines, so as to stay safe.
